We Welcome International Students
Hello international students and welcome to the University of Thessaly!
It is a great pleasure and honor for us to welcome you to this academic community. At the University of Thessaly, we are committed to provide high-quality education and inspire you to explore and develop your interest in animal science. In the Department of Animal Science, you will have the opportunity to learn about animal welfare, nutrition, genetics, and health, as well as the challenges and opportunities of the European animal industry.
The City of Larissa
The city of Larissa has an 8,000-year history and significant cultural monuments, such as two ancient theaters. It also boasts modern cultural infrastructure, including the Municipal Theatre, the Art Gallery – G.I. Katsigras Museum, the Historical and Ethnographic Museum, and the Archaeological and Byzantine Museum. The city hosts the International Film Festival every spring and the Pinios Cultural Festival in June. Larissa is a vibrant city with many cafes, restaurants, and shops. It has a rich cultural scene with amateur theater groups, music bands, choirs, orchestras, and photography clubs. The city has extensive sports facilities and hosts sports events like “RunGreece-Larissa.” Larissa is close to interesting destinations such as Mount Olympus and Meteora and the beautiful beaches of the Aegean Sea. It produces high-quality agricultural products and organizes local product festivals.
Student Life
Student life in Larissa has it all. And the city itself is highlighted by its past, while maintaining the vitality and energy of today. In this wonderful place, traditional architecture embraces the pulse of modern life. At the same time, ancient treasures meet the cultural trends of today, fleshing out the city’s rich history. As a student you will have the opportunity to discover the diversity of the city, to “taste” the generous hospitality of its inhabitants and to indulge in the magical feeling that shapes every corner of Larissa.
Benefits to Students
Career Office Support
Education is much more than obtaining a degree. It’s also about preparing for a successful professional career, and the Career Office of the University of Thessaly is here to help our students make that goal a reality. The office also aims to connect our students with schools, alumni associations, and businesses to achieve a successful career.
International Student Support
The newly formed Office of Global Services aims to assist international students by easing the transition into student life and community building, so that they can start building a network of their own. From orientation programs to providing information regarding immigration and government regulations, this office is dedicated helping international students with a variety of issues, including non-academic matters such as adjusting to their unique environment.
Financial Assistance
As we understand that any international study program costs, we make every effort to assist those in need. The Department of Animal Science, and the University in general, aims to alleviate any financial problems to make sure your focus is on your studies and future growth.
